‘Unique’ party dresses top priority for wedding guests in poll

The results are in and it seems that standing out from the crowd is the main priority for Girl Meets Dress fans when choosing a formal dress for a wedding.

We asked you the question: “Which three are most important to you when dressing for a wedding?â€

‘Looking unique’ came out on top, with 35.4% of the votes. It’s every woman’s worst nightmare – you arrive at the wedding, all glammed up feeling fabulous, only to find that someone else is wearing the exact same dress – oh the shame! Renting a unique designer dress, instead of buying a mass-produced high street replica, can help avoid any potential cringe-factor.

In the poll results, ‘uniqueness’ was closely followed by the need for your party dress to be suitable for both day and night, scooping 27.5% of the votes. Budget was the next important consideration with 15.7%, followed by wearing designer (11.8%) and seeking style advice (9.6%).

We’re just wondering whether anyone showed up at Robbie Williams and Ayda Field’s big day dressed the same? One thing’s for sure – it was definitely a unique, unconventional affair with reports indicating that they had dogs as bridesmaids, fry-ups at 1am and guests being made to believe they were attending a James Bond themed party until just moments before the ceremony began! Only Robbie.

Girl Meets Dress is perfect for weddings and avoids that awkward same dress scenario – rent a fabulous wedding guest dress for a fraction of the price, but for maximum individuality.

AW10 Trend Report

It may feel like the summer’s already over, with a less than glorious August predicted we’ve decided to look forward to what Autuwn/Winter 2010  has to offer by scouring the catwalks of New York, Milan Paris (and London of course) for this seasons ‘hottest’ trends. We’ve put together 5 key looks that you need to know to ensure your styled to perfection for A/W10.

Sixties Siren

Channel your inner Joan Holloway in sexy sixties silhouettes. Accentuating an hourglass shape withfigure forming cuts with likes of Victoria Beckham and Miu Miu leading the trend with their lady like shapes. Belted waists, pencil skirts and a subtle amount of décolletage are the perfect combination for sixties siren style and this stylish little number by is Dries Van Noten is ideal for sassy styling.

Subtle Shimmer

A well needed rest from last year’s sequin overload; this seasons sparkles have been refined into a mixture of metallic weaves in precious metal tones and intricately designed foil overlays. Subtle shimmers were de riguer on the catwalks of Balmain and Emilio Pucci, with the likes of Carolina Herrera romanticising the trend with a feminine mix of glittering silk blends and embellished tulle detailing. Why not try the trend for yourself in this stunning cocktail dress by Ruth Tarvydas; in a muted gold shade with fitted bodice for sexy styling; or for something a little less formal borrow this gold pailette dress by Haute Hippie– putting on the glitz has never been so chic.

Minimalism

For a more austere take on this seasons look try Stella McCartney inspired minimalist chic. With an understated nod to early 90s sleek silhouettes pioneered by the likes of Calvin Klien, this time around minimalism requires clean lines, neutral colours and not much else. For a stylish take on the minimalist trend rent this clean-cut Fendi dress for your next event. Perfect for easy day to evening transitioning and styled simply with sleeked back hair and a plain pair of court shoes to work the polished look with finesse.

In The Red

Scarlet fever swept the runways of Zac Posen and Isabel Marant; ode

toValentino’s signature colour we saw the catwalks awash with a mix of crimson highlights to full out ruby red gowns.  No longer reserved for evening glamour wear this striking colour for day time chic, hire this stunning Zimmerman silk dress, and wear with a dash of Joan Crawford-esque rouge lipstick for effortless day elegance.

Lovely Lace

A touch of Edwardian elegance was in order for the gothic inspired collections of Christopher Kane and Oscar De La Renta. Their intricate lacy designs finished in soft feminine shapes were interspersed with luxe leather accessories and smouldering eye make-up making for an altogether provocative style. Hire this flirty lace skirt dress by Anna Sui for a fun take on the lacy look.

Perfect party dresses to keep that summer feeling alive

As Britain begins to feel a slight chill, it can be difficult to decide what to wear on your special night out, and summer holiday cocktail dresses just don’t seem right now that autumn is drawing near.

At the same time, after you’ve spent two weeks baking yourself in the sun, it would be a shame to hide those perfectly tanned legs under a pair of tights or leggings.

Our advice would be to choose a party dress that’s not too bright or summery and still short and sparkly enough to keep that fabulous summer feeling alive. Afterall, we don’t want to head into depressing winter mode just yet do we?

Take a look at this perfect silk designer dress by JOSEPH. This black paillette mini dress gives you a classic silhouette by combining soft drapes with a dual deep v-neckline and back. A gorgeous LBD – and yours to rent from just £89.
