With just 2 weeks to go until Valentine’s Day 2013, we are  wondering what to wear and so we asked our founder Anna to give us her suggestions  - whether you are spending the evening with a partner, family, or friends. ROMANTIC DINNER

If your guy has planned a dinner somewhere, you’ll need a dress which is comfortable to sit in, focuses on the top half (since that is what he’ll see all evening) and that doesn’t crease. I usually like to go for a sleeved dress for restaurants as it can be chilly. Otherwise take a shawl which can also be useful to place over your legs should your skirt be on the short side when you sit.

DINNER PARTY AT HOME

A fun thing to do on the 14th is gather together some friends, single and couples for a dinner party. Many couples don’t like the idea of a candlelit restaurant on this one day of the year, filled with other cheesy couples – so hosting a relaxed and fun evening gives everyone a fun alternative. If you are cooking then you’ll need a dress that is not too short (otherwise wear tights) and that is easy to move in. Remember to wear an apron until you sit down to eat – but wow your guests through dinner with a special number.

My beautiful daughter is getting married this September and I am having trouble finding something to wear. I would like to look attractive, but since I have quite large breasts I need to find a style that is flattering and not too revealing. Could you recommend me a dress?

This is a familiar problem and we completely understand your desires to want to look respectful and beautiful, as it will be as much your day as it will be your daughters! A common mistake for the mother of the bride is to dress either too young, or too old, when really there is no option more suited to the occasion than classic, timeless elegance. Keep an open mind however, as now is the time to wear something out of the ordinary.

My first suggestion for you would be this stunning satin dress by Erdem, which balances a youthful, feminine print with a flattering high neck line and long sleeves.

1. Can I take my dress on vacation with me?

Yes you can! Our dresses have traveled to many different countries, more than I have to be honest, and although the price to rent the dress will increase slightly, you can rent the dress for a longer period of time and send it back to us once you get back home. Think of it this way, you can own the dress for longer and wear it multiple times! If you want to borrow a dress for longer than 7 nights, email us at enquiries@girlmeetsdress.com with the dates and names of dresses.

2. Do I have to clean my dress after I wear it?

No, we take care of the cleaning once you send the dress back to us, so don’t worry and enjoy your Cinderella night! We simply ask that you take care of the dress as if you borrowed it from a friend.

3. I need my dress for this weekend? Do you do speedy delivery?

Yes we do! If you need a dress for a last minute event this is no problem. As with every order – once the dresses leave us – they are on a Next Day UK delivery service. Fear no more about time and deadlines.  We even have a Same Day delivery service within London!
