Herve Leger by Max Azaria at New York Fashion Week

This week saw Herve Leger by Max Azaria’s Spring/Summer 2012 high-end runway show at the Lincoln Centre in New York City.  His signature bodycon bandage dresses ensured an A-list crowd including the likes of LeAnn Rimes, Ashlee Simpson and Jessica Szohr.  In neutral shades of white and black, Azaria chose metallic details in bronze, silver and gold to impress a futuristic tone on his designer dresses.  With cut-outs and tassled hems, the dresses clung to the models enhancing their feminine shapes.  Hair was tied back into slick ponytails so all eyes remained on the aw-inspiring dresses and gladiator style heels with straps that wound up the legs to sit just below the knees.

At Girl Meets Dress needless to say we are mesmerized by Azaria’s figure hugging frocks that enhance a woman’s body in just the right way, ensuring you feel more confident than ever in these perfect party dresses.  Currently we have six different styles of the Herve Leger dresses including the Bandage Black dress, the Fushia dress, the Green and Grey dress, the Bandage Halterneck dress, the Colour-Block Bandage dress and the V-Neck Bandage dress:

Team them with sky high-heels, chunky gold jewellery and a statement clutch to ensure that jaw-dropping reaction.

MILAN FASHION WEEK A/W10 – Round-up!

We are now heading towards the end of the A/W10 shows and with the Milan out of the way, Paris Fashion Week kicks-off. Here are some of the highlights from Milan and a round-up of our favourite shows:

We loved Fendi who showcased a fabulous collection in a muted palette that was both chic and practical. Prada’s collection on the other hand displayed A-line silhouettes, sexy high-heels, frills which had a kind-of 50s and 60s inspired vibe going-on and bee hive styled-hair. It was beautiful and Victorian-chic with a contemporary edge.

Jil Sander showcased a kick-ass collection inspired by Lara Croft and we saw a new and modern take on power dressing – it was futuristic tailoring at it’s best and we loved the flat boots that were teamed with each look.

Glitz, gloss and glam were at the heart of Versace’s A/W10 Collection and we were presented with high energy runway looks in super-chic metallic dresses and skirts. It was also another collection that took it’s design to a futuristic level and offered a much more different approach than would be usually expected. The tailoring was much sharper with hip high slit’s on gorgeous full length dresses and fantastic detail in the form of dazzling zip trims, open backs, cut-out panels and stunning embellishments.

At D&G, the girls were ready for a Ski holiday and the collection provided so many editable pieces in a variety of styles in a palette of reds, greys and black. Their main collection featured a more sophisticated and elegant woman and we saw jackets inspired by mens tailoring. Domenico and Stephano took it back to the classics by throwing in a mix of lingerie inspired pieces in black lace and leopard prints which were sometimes worn with polka-dots.

All-in-all, Milan had a lot to offer. We loved that the traditional brands turned back to their roots and at the same time managed to revamp their signatures and apply a modern twist that had the future somewhat in mind. It may have been a hectic weekend, but it was a pleasing one indeed.

Just Cavalli A/W10

Amongst many other things, Roberto Cavalli is probably known as one designer who frequently uses animal prints in his collections and he likes his woman a bit on the wild side but still sexy. However, his A/W10 ‘Just Cavalli’ collection carried a somewhat mixed message of a girl meets glam and grunge on the runway. The collection featured a lot of layered pieces from plaid mini skirts to patch-work sweaters with tiny kilts and sometimes gold brocade leggings and leopard prints in red, blue and yellow.
There were also other textures thrown into the mix like leather, quilting, lace and fur. Accessorizing the looks were flamboyant charm necklaces which in some cases were also layered on other chains and rounded off the looks perfectly. His collection projected just the right message for A/W10 which is ‘lots and lots of layering’ and though we wouldn’t neccessarily wear some of the pieces in the way they were presented, it was a sexy line-up that was wearable, chic and had plenty to choose from.

LFW: Burberry A/W10

Burberry’s A/W10 Womenswear show yesterday was a star-studded rendezvous with an impressive front-row seating the likes of Carey Mulligan – winner of Best Actress at Monday night’s Bafta’s, Kate Hudson, Kristen Stewart, Mary Kate Olsen, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Olivia Palermo and Mario Testino. But that’s not all the only big news, Burberry’s A/W show was also being streamed live on their website and viewed in 3-D by selective groups of invited guests in New York, Tokyo, L.A, and Dubai – It was a show not to be missed and it proved rightly so by the collection we were presented with.

Christopher Bailey’s latest collection was an explosion of hugely covetable pieces. From gorgeous sheepskin-lined aviator jackets; some cropped at the waist with double collars to millitary inspired looks with fabulous detailing in the form of gold buttons, multiple buckles up the sleeves and zips that in some of the coats offered to slice-off the bottom leaving just a fitted, cropped version. We thought these two-in-one look jackets were just remarkable and fitting for A/W10.
The thigh-high snake-skin stilletto boots were also a highlight and they were uber sexy over tights and skinny pants worn by the models. We also loved ankle boots with the multiple buckles and sheepskin linings which gave the Burberry woman a tough persona that made the silk bandage dresses in raspberry and gold chiffon, silk and muslin look even more outstanding.
However, If there is one thing that is a must-have from this collection it will have to be a pick from the magnificent coat selection which from what we saw believe that Burberry already wears the crown for designing many of what will be labelled “The Perfect coat” in A/W 2010.
