Cashmere Bustier Dress by Richard Nicoll

Who other than Richard Nicoll could take such a wintry fabric as cashmere and spin it into the most covetable Spring dress?  In homage to him, this Cashmere Bustier dress is our Dress of the Week.

We reckon this dress could take you anywhere this Spring bank holiday.  The gingham skirt is so evocative of Spring-time and Easter and we reckon with a pair of chunky wooden platforms you wouldn’t need much else to bring this dress to life!  (Maybe a fuchsia pout?)  Wear it – with said platforms – to picnics, on shopping sprees with girlfriends and to lunch.  While we daren’t be so pessimistic as to even think it, should the weather make a turn for the worse, simply slip on a faded denim jacket for a look of girlish insouciance – so Alexa Chung!

Or how about dressing it up for evening?  Simply swap the sandals for some uber sexy pointed courts and add a shot of pillar box red – whether that be in the form of a clutch bag or matte Revlon lipstick.  Then, may we suggest, you grab some friends and make the most of the four day weekend!

The Cashmere Bustier Dress by Richard Nicoll is £89 for 2 nights or £99 for 7 nights.

Floral Print Cotton Dress by Marni

Right now we’re coming over all lady-like and crushing on this fabulous 50’s style Marni floral print cotton dress.  It’s our Dress of the Week.

This summer dress with its v-neckline and full skirt is reminiscent of holidays in the Hamptons and chic city breaks.  In fact, with the number of bank holidays over Easter (two four-day weekends in a row?  Thank you Kate and Will!), we expect everyone’s taking advantage and planning a getaway.  So why not pack this dress?  We reckon it would work best against a backdrop of the French Riviera or the Alhambra palace in Granada, but sling on a biker jacket and it’s California cool.  For a classic Grace Kelly look, pair with dainty kitten-heeled sandals and a matching leather bag.  If you’re not jetting off anywhere, don’t worry, you can still work it.  Pop on some ankle socks and brogues and suddenly this dress is quirky London cool.

The Marni floral print cotton dress is £149 for 2 nights or £159 for 7 nights.

Silk Draped Column Dress by Dries Van Noten

There are many reasons why this silk draped column dress by Dries Van Noten is our Dress of the Week.  For starters, the fade-out ombré effect has become quite the subtle trend du jour.  Dip-dying, which started as a hair trend  – think Dalston’s BLEACH and Meadham Kirchhoff’s S/S11 catwalk show – has translated into catwalk looks and we love.  Plus, it’s a happy sunny colour that just makes us smile and start dreaming of our summer holidays – which, let’s face it, with this weather, is totally reasonable.

The asymmetric sleeve detail and loose, languid style is effortless – ideal for lazy summer days.  Style it up with tans and browns to keep the summery theme going – black looks too harsh in such glorious sunshine!  We recommend open-toe chunky sandals for day.  For a going out look, slip into some pointy-toe courts and grab a clutch and you’re good to go!

Silk draped column dress by Dries Van Noten is £99 for 2 nights or £109 for 7 nights.

Printed Silk Dress by Tibi

This dress is the sartorial equivalent of killing two birds with one stone.  In this little Tibi number you can tick off two trends: brights and grown-up digital flower prints.  That’s why it’s our Dress of the Week.

A whole host of designers were showcasing grown-up florals for Spring/Summer including Stella McCartney and Erdem, plus with Jil Sander doing for colour what Celine did for minimalism, you can be sure to be on trend with acid pop colours.  This dress certainly isn’t for wallflowers.  The trick to pulling it off is pairing such a vivid hue of blue with calming neutrals (handy considering camel and neutrals were so in for Autumn/Winter!)

Whether you choose biscuit, mocha or caramel, your shoes and bag will ground this look and make it totally wearable.  For instance, add this unassuming Wilbur and Gussie Harriet clutch to keep the focus on the dress.

Tibi printed silk dress is £89 for 2 nights or £99 for 7 nights.  The Wilbur and Gussie Harriet clutch bag in caramel is £39 with any dress for 2 or 7 nights.  Borrowed alone, it is £49 for 7 nights or £69 for a month.
