Last week saw so much buzz on the catwalk during LFW we almost forgot the glamours attending the shows! Â Tearing our eyes away from the dazzling couture on the catwalk, attendees included models, singers, socialites, bloggers, editors, photographers (the list goes on). Â There were fashionistas everywhere we turned draped in immaculate dresses. Â The eclectic mix of fabrics, silhouettes and sequins on display was overwhelming. Naturally with all the press surrounding the biggest fashion weeks around the globe we would have a bazillion favourites so we’ve tried to cut it down. Â Here’s a few…
The gorgeous Poppy Delevigne glistened in her long-sleeved Temperley dress.  Perfectly complimenting her blonde-bombshell hair, this sheer number was populated with beads and sequins and stretched to the floor with three layers of tassels.
Pixie Geldof looked as sophisticated as ever in her Giles Deacon gown. Â Labelled the ‘Face Dress’ and previously worn by Lily Cole, this frock is extremely unique. Â With its bustier style waist and elusive print which creates a layered look, this dress was sure to turn heads. Â Pixie glammed it up with peep-toe stilletos and simple gold jewellery.
Rochelle Wiseman wowed crowds in a Roberto Cavalli gown.  The snakeskin floor-length, deep neck dress with front and back cut-outs was an undisputed show-stopper.  With her hair neatly twisted up and simple metallic clutch we’re sure she made Cavalli proud.
Finally, Poppy Delevigne once again however this time sporting a very different style in a Christopher Kane animal featured day dress. Â Cool and casual with her Mulberry satchel and red Ray Bans, Delevigne worked this dress to perfection. Â Choose from our stunning collection of Christopher Kane with both day and evening dresses.

“My birthday is coming up and I am having a party where both family and friends will be attending. I’ll be turning 18 so will need a dress that will wow my friends but won’t shock my family. I am on a budget so please only suggest dresses under £100.â€
For such a special occasion such as your birthday we can understand your desire to have a show-stopping dress yet one that won’t make family members (particularly grandparents) want to cover you up in a coat as soon as you arrive! A special dress that will stand out for all the right reasons is what you’ll need to create the desired look that will impress all of your attendees, whatever their age…
Our Marc Jacobs Rainbow Paillette dress is the ultimate in glam and was even worn by Fergie at the Teen Choice awards. Â On its own, the black bustier may be a little too ‘little’ for the grandparents however, with its sheer black tulle overlay and beautiful detailing consisting of horizontal rainbow sequinned stripes it’s the perfect party dress. Â Team with a colourful chunky necklace and sky-high heels as illustrated below.
Â
Another great choice is our Winona Dress by Amee Lou. Â In gorgeous plum, this asymmetric frock screams luxury couture with its layered taffeta-chiffon. Â Accessorize with long earrings and a metallic clutch and you’ll be head to toe glam!
Â
Finally, our Alice and Olivia Salmon Sequinned Dress will ensure the limelight is all yours. Â Particularly girly, make this ballerina-esque with your hair wrapped up into a bun and show-stopping silver platforms .

Nowadays not only are we fraught with decisions on fabrics, colours and necklines, we also have that all important heel and hem decision, a deadly combination that if married incorrectly can ruin that all important look. Unfortunately, heel and hem combinations aren’t easy to mirror off of friends and strangers you may feel have mastered the marriage. They are extremely personal and depend strictly on the length and width of your own legs from your hips all the way down to your ankles. A hemline that stretches a millimetre too long or too short could turn your look from va va voom to va va doom. Here’s how to prevent these fashion flaws…
Mini: When wearing a mini dress whether short/tall/curvy or slim this dress is always going to make your legs appear longer and therefore you appear taller. If you are petite and this is a desired effect then look no further! Team it with light-strappy sky-high heels and you’ll add inches. If you are particularly slender then perhaps opt for a more substantial heel such as a pump to add a bit more volume to the look. If you are tall then you can opt for either a heel or a flat depending on height desired. Women who wish to slim down their legs should opt for a lighter more slender shoe. We love this Puff Sleeve dress by Opening Ceremony that will take you from day to night with ease. Wear it with ankle boots for an alternative look. Just ensure they have heels for women who want to elongate their legs further.
Short-Midi: Test the look on yourself by holding a dress up to your body in front of the mirror so that the hem sits at the lowest point of your knee. If this is the widest part of your leg then consider wearing a dress of this length with a heel to detract from this fact and balance out your frame. The shorter you are the higher your heels should be in order to lengthen your legs further. We love DVF’S Alexy Jersey dress.
Long-Midi: Just like the short-midi, this length will need a mirror test. Hold a dress up to your body so that the hemline hits just below the knees and they are no longer visible. Most people will find that this does hit the widest part of your leg and therefore the prior rules apply. Simply experiment with the height of your heels until you achieve your desired look. The shorter or wider your legs are the higher the heel required. We love Yves Saint Laurent’s Blue Linen dress.
Floor-Length: Finally, a floor-length dress will flatter all frames. Taller girls can often get away with flats and shorter girls can often get away with high-heels. Long-dresses are particularly slimming therefore the higher the heel the slimmer the look. The material of the dress is key to your look however as the lighter the dress’s material the lighter the material of the shoe will need to be. For example a silk summer dress would look clunky with heavy leather pumps but a delicate sandal would be perfect.  We love Adam’s Crepe Column Gown.

Unsurprisingly, the show-stopping couture worn at the Emmy Awards, Los Angeles on Sunday night has made us fall in love with the colour red all over again. With A-listers such as Glee’s Lea Michele in Marchesa, our very own Kate Winslet in Ellie Saab and Nina Dobrev in a jaw-dropping Donna Karan, they glamorized the red carpet in what appeared to be a modern take on old Hollywood glamour. Mature, sophisticated and feminine were the adjectives that fell off our lips at GMD headquarters as we gasped and gaped at the array of dresses we couldn’t get enough of. Naturally red wasn’t the only colour worn on the night. Black, champagne, silver and navy all showcased in a variety of styles however red, undisputedly, stole the show with more than eight ladies donning its various shades.
At GMD we couldn’t wait to share with you our very own collection of red designer beauties, from Dina Bar-El, Marc Jacobs, Carven and Halston to name a few!
