Strictly Come Dancing 2013 is back!

2013-09-03_1404

Our favourite celeb show is back! Strictly Come Dancing returns to our screens on Wednesday 4th September 2013 for season 11. The show, best known for its lively atmosphere, went down a storm on the Strictly Come Dancing tour and now it’s here! We take a look at some Strictly Come Dancing outfits.

Last season we saw an array of bright and beautiful outfits gracing the dance floor. We were up to our necks in celeb dresses full of rhinestones and lace and quirky styles. Week 6 saw Denise Van Outen wow the judges in this sassy red floor length dress, whilst Victoria Pendleton showed off her moves in a lacy gold dress. Strictly Come Dancing Winners Louis Smith and Flavia Cacace always kept on top of their fashion every week too.

Strictly is back, and it’s bigger and better than ever. We can’t wait to watch the new series – and the celebs are already raring to go. After all the success of last season we’ll be sure to try and get our hands on some Strictly Come Dancing tickets this year. Will Abbey Clancy use her modelling background to help her dance the dance? Or will Sophie Ellis Bextor murder the dancefloor?

In running with our celeb dress hire, this week Girl Meets Dress look through the celebrities competing in this seasons’ Strictly Come Dancing and we suss out what sort of styles they might be wearing.

 Susanna Reid – TV Presenter

BBC Breakfast presenter Susanna Reid is usually known for her clean cut fashion. She loves shift dresses in bold colours and occasionally  mixes in some prints. This     season we can definitely see her wearing a  vibrant red dress for one of her dances,     like our Carven Tweed Dress,  or going dreamy and wearing a long evening dress like   the Dina Bar-El Eleni Gown.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor – Singer

Known for her quirky style, multi-platinum selling singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor is due to hit our screens tomorrow evening. Often favouring designers like Henry Holland and Temperley London, we can imagine Sophie will be sure to pick some eccentric dress choices.  We can definitely see her choosing a graceful silhouette like the Roberto Cavalli Afrodite ball gown or mixing prints and colours like our Jewel by Lisa Print Dress.

Vanessa Feltz – Broadcaster

A household name due to her outstanding broadcasting skills, Vanessa Feltz is sure to  challenge the other contestants. Described as one of the most hardworking women in  broadcasting, Vanessa is a big fan of little black dresses and likes to keep her style  smart and sophisticated. We can see her choosing some flattering long black dresses   like our Nicole Miller Felicity Black Gown, or maybe she’ll go a little wild and try to  bring in some sparkle like our Alice and Olivia Nala Knit Dress.

Abbey Clancy – Model

Abbey has been in the spotlight ever since she arrived on the modelling scene as a promising Liverpudlian on Britain’s Next Top Model. She’s in the midst of co-hosting a new TV show called Britain’s Ultimate Male Model (we’ll be watching that!) and is known for her love of taking risks in fashion. Often a fan of slim fitting bodycon dresses, Abbey will be sure to make the most of what she’s got by wearing figure hugging dresses throughout the show. We might see her in something similar to our Diva Sophia sequin dress or flying the flag for ruffles in our Opulence England Lace Tutu Dress.

The rest of the ladies are made up of Dragon’s Den hard-woman Deborah Meaden, Countdown’s Rachel Riley, Corrie’s Natalie Gumede and former Bond Girl Fiona Fullerton. And don’t forget to look out for fabulous fashion choices from Tess Daley! Have you got any predictions for the winner yet?

Emily is a student about to start a degree in Graphic Design and runs her own blog called EmilyEmilyBeth as she loves everything to do with beauty and fashion. When Emily’s not blogging she aspires to be a graphic designer or might branch into marketing. Emily takes us through her top 5 ball gowns to hire online from Girl Meets Dress.

1) Diva Sophia Una Gown Mint – £39

I love this ball dress because it’s a perfect dress for summer, instead of wearing the usual LBD why not opt for a mint green pastel colour – you’ll definitely stand out amongst other people. If you’re wanting a simple prom dress, but with a splash of colour, then this is the dress for you.

2) Ariella Gisele Gown – £109

This ball gown is full on glamour. It is SO eye catching and you’ll be sure to turn every head in the room once you walk in! The embellishments make this ball dress look flawless, and very classy – what more could you want!? The ball gown cut is highly flattering for any shape, and for sure you’ll be the one dazzling in the middle of the room.

3) Dina Bar-El Audrey Gown – £109

Instead of wearing your old LBD, why not opt for a change and go for a LBD with a bit more sophistication. This black Audrey Gown is definitely something different, with an open back it will certainly turn heads – and is certainly a change from the normal LBD. You will definitely stand out in a row of LBD’s with this number on, perfect for a formal, laid back black tie event.

4) Erdem Holly Maxi Dress – £79

If you’re feeling more adventurous, why not hire the Holly Maxi Dress. The patterns are unique and interesting, and will sure have people wishing they had that ball dress on. The floor length of this dress adds a classy element to it, a spin on the casual dress you often find with a similar pattern to this. Just dress it up with some simple jewellery and voila, you’ll look perfect.

5) Jovani Sequin Tulle Gown – £109

And finally… the one you’ve all been waiting for. This Jovani ball gown is purely stunning and everyone will wish you were their friend with this number on. The embellishment really makes this dress what it is, and you don’t have to wear any jewellery with this dress as I am pretty sure the dress does all of the talking!

Featured Blogger: For the Love of Thrift blogger Georgia gives her top 5 ball gown dresses

georgia

Georgia of For the Love of Thrift is a part time blogger, part time A Level student. Whilst her interests include drinking far too much tea and rummaging in Charity Shops (as she is a self confessed bargain hunter) she finds time to blog in between. An aspiring journalist, Georgia takes time out to discuss with us her favourite ball gown dresses to hire online.

1. Maids to Measure Caroline Gown Grape – £59

The colour is definitely up my street and the elegance of the ball gown caught my eye on the website. The ball dress is gorgeous and I love the way it falls so naturally and the sleeves are darling too.

2. Elliot Claire Jewelled Silver Gown – £49

The intricate detailing on the sleeve is divine and I really love Asymmetric ball dresses at the moment. The colour is also really classy and it gives a hint of vintage glamour.

3. Dina Bar-El Audrey Gown – £109

I really love ‘less is more’ as then you can experiment with accessories. I love the back of this ball gown and it’s simple but eye-catching!

4. Dynasty Ivana Gown – £89

The ball dress is a lovely muted colour and the detailing goes perfectly with it! The back of the dress is also very glamours and would look fabulous with an up-do to show it off.

5. Ariella Ivy Emerald Gown – £109

This ball dress reminded me of a mermaid’s tail because of the colour and the waterfall effect. I think it’s perfect and the colour is very striking and different and a bit out of my comfort zone as I normally like very muted/pastel shades.
