The Queen at London Fashion Week

As you may have guessed from our social media posts, the Girl Meets Dress buyers and social media team have been very busy with London Fashion Week (LFW), running around London to get to all the shows, to seek out what’s going to be on trend for AW18 and we’ve already placed orders on dresses for you to hire that we think will be popular for the coming season. At the Richard Quinn show yesterday, we were graced not just by the likes of Anna Wintour aka fashion royalty, but Her Majesty The Queen made an unprecedented appearance. All of the Girl Meets Dress team, were major fangirling, but obviously we still kept our focus on the dresses. Of course she was in the front row and she awarded Quinn with the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design. This is the first time the Queen has graced her presence at LFW.

The Queen sat next to Anna Wintour. Don’t they both look lovely? Feel inspired by the Queen’s pastel blue ensemble or Anna Wintour’s floral dress? Then why not hire one of our day dresses?

Here the Queen is awarding Richard Quinn with the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design.

For those who live in London, Girl Meets Dress offers same day delivery, for all orders placed before 1pm, so its not too late to hire dresses of your dreams!

For all our other UK and European customers, we offer next day delivery for all orders placed before 1pm.

With Girl Meets Dress, you can now hire the catwalk, as the dresses you see on the Girl Meets Dress website, are always fresh off the runway.

Think Pink.

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month so we’re thinking PINK

London Fashion Week showed an array of pink themed runways ranging from Topshop Unique to Celine. Although it appears to be more of a spring/summer colour it’s clear that a winter wardrobe doesn’t need to be dull and dark. So put a spring in your step and embrace the pink trend this Autumn/Winter season.

Sandra Bullock recently wore a beautiful fuchsia dress in New York whilst promoting her new film which just proves that you can rock the pink trend in all seasons, weathers and locations! Teaming her outfit with a pair of nude heels, statement black bag and diva-esque sunglasses, it is clear that Bullock can rock bright colours and does so effortlessly!

We picked out our favourite 3 pink dresses in homage to Sandra and Breast Cancer Awareness.

1

This gorgeous strapless Marches Notte dress is so simple and the black lace detail adds to the simplicity. The dress evokes Hollywood Glamour and teamed with a small black clutch and patent peep toes will get all heads turning whatever the event.

2

There is nothing better than a strappy dress! Easy to wear and with the slight layering effect this Halston Heritage slip dress is perfect for a variety of shapes and sizes due to the way it hangs.

3

The Temperley Kiera Dress is a gorgeous figure hugging silk dress. With the slight, capped shoulders it is very much suited for women who are conscious of their arms as the attention is taken away from these areas and drawn to the zip detailing.

London Fashion Week SS13: The Future is Bright

So, London Fashion Week is over for another season. If you choose to dabble in just one spring/summer 2013, make it the colour vs print trend. Designers including Simone Rocha, Burberry Prorsum, Osman and Holly Fulton sent models down the runway in block brights and eccentric prints. For brights, choose an elegant, simple cut (as seen at Issa), whereas prints should be exaggerated by sci-fi, futuristic dress shapes.

Whether you choose colour or print, the future is bright. Well, SS13 is.

Clockwise from top: Brights, by Burberry Prorsum, Christopher Kane, Issa and Simone Rocha, all SS13.

Clockwise from top: Prints at Dion Lee, Mary Katrantzou, Osman and Holly Fulton, all SS13.

Shop prints at Girl Meets Dress.
