        Shopping at GMD is easy and in 4 easy steps you can wear the dresses you dream of.
        Everything is very similar to any other online shop, and at the checkout, you can review and amend your order details and add some optional extras. Once you order, we will email you to confirm everything!

        BROWSE Find the dress of your dreams by browsing your event type, dress size or favourite colour.

        ORDER When you see a dress you love, select your size, number of nights and event date. Click 'ADD TO BAG' Then you can then continue shopping or go to the shopping bag in the top right hand corner to complete your order.

        PARTY Enjoy wearing your dress and bask in the compliments and admiring glances you will get!

        RETURN Pop your dress back in the box, attach the pre paid label and drop it into your local Post office. Easy!

        Does GMD have a shop to visit?
         No, we are purely an online rental boutique and we don't have a physical location where you can come and try on dresses. All products are delivered to you.

        When do I place my order?
         There is no specific time in which you have to place your order before your event. If could be 3 months before, or 3 days. Of course, the sooner you order the higher the chance that your favourite dresses will be available for your event date, but don't worry if you do it last miniute, we send all dresses using a Next Day delivery service.

        How long can I borrow a dress for?
         On the website you select the option to borrow each dress for either 2 nights or 7 nights. But if you want to hang onto it for longer because you need time to accessorize, or perhaps you are going on holiday, that is no problem! Just email us at enquiries@girlmeetsdress.com and we can either renew it for you, or give you a quote for a longer rental period.

        Can I try on the dresses?
         Yes. There are 2 options:
        Option 1: (Standard for all orders) When the dresses are delivered for your event you will try them on.
        Option 2: If your event is more than 30 days away from the date you order you can opt to use our ADVANCE TRY ON service. You will receive the dresses asap and choose one to have re-delivered for the event. This service is ?30 per order (non refundable) and you can tick this option at the checkout.

        How many dresses can I try on?
         There is a limit of 3 dresses per order. With some of the large dresses with lots of material this could be limited to 1 or 2. We will deliver them to you and after you try them on you will tell us which one you have decided to wear for your event. You will then keep all of the dresses until after the event and return them in the same box. Once we receive them back we will refund you for the dresses which you did not wear.

        When will my dresses be delivered?
        When you select your event date, you can view your delivery and return date. We always send an email the day that the dresses are dispatched, so you know that your dress is on its way. Your dress will never just turn up un-announced!

        Where does GMD deliver to?
        We currently deliver to the United Kingdon, Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and the Isle of Wight.

        Can my delivery address be different to my billing address?
        Yes. At the checkout stage you can choose both the individual delivery and biling address.

        How much does delivery cost?
        Standard delivery within the United Kingdom is ?9.95. This is for delivery and return all included.
        Same Day delivery within central London is ?20.

        How do I return my dress?
        Returning the dresses you have enjoyed is quick and easy.
        1. Simply pack the items in their original packaging, stick the pre-paid return label provided, and fill out the returns form enclosed.
        2. Drop your box at the local Post Office. No additional fees or postage will be needed. Please ensure you keep your receipt safe as this is your proof of postage.
        3. When the box arrives back at GMD HQ, you will receive a email receipt and any refunds will be made.

JUST LAUNCHED ON GIRL MEETS DRESS, WE ARE THRILLED TO WELCOME UK LABEL LIBELULA!

Inspired by vintage shapes, LIBELULA‘s head designer Sophie Cranston creates beautiful colours, feminine and delicious dresses, from long evening gowns to mid length dresses.  Libelula is fast becoming the label to watch. This brand is known for its in-house designed, vibrant prints and use of luxurious fabrics. Remember when the magazines went crazy and Cranston was the fashion name on everyone’s lips thanks to rumours that she was going to be designing The Duchess of Cambridge wedding dress.

The Duchess of Cambridge has worn Libelula on more than one occasion, most memorably when she chose a black velvet Dulwich coat with diamante clasp for the wedding of Harry Aubrey-Fletcher and Louise Stourton. Then more recently, to Coworth Park, near Ascot, to watch hubby Prince William and Prince Harry play polo. For this day out she choose the silk Rebecca dress from Libélula’s Autumn Winter 2011 collection – and it is still selling today! The printed knee-length frock in a summery sea-green hue with ladylike buttons leading from the belted waist up to the high stand collar – is the perfect style for a day event with wedges, or an evening occasion with high heels.

Cranston studied fashion design and honed her skills in the backrooms in Saville Row and Bellville Sassoon. She then won the prestigious Designer of the Year Award at Graduate Fashion Week in 1999, an accolade shared with such luminaries as John Galliano, Christopher Bailey and Alexander McQueen. She then went on to work for McQueen himself, and next set up Temperley in 2000 with Alice Temperley. After 2 years she decided to follow her dreams and went to the South of Spain to learn Flamenco and Spanish and it was here in a small white washed village in Andalucia that Libelula (Dragonfly in Spanish) was born.

As the label grew it made more sense to move the headquarters to the UK and it can now be found in many of the leading boutiques around the country, and also internationally. Cranston’s  studio is based in Hampshire and she now juggles dresses with motherhood and family life.

Libelula now also offers wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses in their signature shapes and fabrics.

Libelula Dresses & the Libelula Wedding Dress Frenzy

Since the word got out that Kate Middleton might wear a Libelula wedding dress we’ve been beside ourselves trying to imagine what it will look like.  Although we stock Libelula dresses, you can’t hire Libelula dresses from the bridal collection. Libelula wedding dresses are made as part of a bespoke bridal collection at Libelula. Wedding dress prices are well over those from the non -bridal Libelula dresses collection, where dress prices from the average at around £300-400.  Since it emerged yesterday that a Libelula wedding dress might be on the Royal Wedding cards, the Chelsea based shop has been bombarded with press attention.  The website’s homepage currently states that due to the site having received overwhelming traffic, technical difficulties have meant that the online store is temporarily off-line.

Why Kate would choose a Libelula wedding dress, by a relatively little-known designer, with the likes of Alexander McQueen, Bruce Oldfield, and Jasper Conran more obvious choices, is the question on everyone’s lips.   The mother of Libelula founder Sophie Cranston, said that heightened speculation was due to Kate Middleton having been spotted last year in a Libelula coat while attending the wedding of a friend.   That a Libelula wedding dress is highly likely has been made clear at the bookies where for the first time in over a month it is reported  betting shops have reopened their books on the identity of the designer, to include the Libelula owner to be a wedding dress designer favourite.

Do Libelula Dresses Get the Bridal Seal of Approval?

As we stock pieces by Libelula, (Libelula dresses currently gracing our hangers include this Libelula ‘Sarah’ dress), you can imagine our excitement upon hearing that the label’s founder Sophie Cranston is currently top of the list of wedding dress designers, rumoured to be designing the dress Kate Middleton will walk down the aisle in.  Kate is already known to be a fan of the designer’s clothes, having been photographend wearing a Libelula coat while at wedding in Yorkshire earlier this year.
