London Fashion Week

The Queen at London Fashion Week

As you may have guessed from our social media posts, the Girl Meets Dress buyers and social media team have been very busy with London Fashion Week (LFW), running around London to get to all the shows, to seek out what’s going to be on trend for AW18 and we’ve already placed orders on dresses for you to hire that we think will be popular for the coming season. At the Richard Quinn show yesterday, we were graced not just by the likes of Anna Wintour aka fashion royalty, but Her Majesty The Queen made an unprecedented appearance. All of the Girl Meets Dress team, were major fangirling, but obviously we still kept our focus on the dresses. Of course she was in the front row and she awarded Quinn with the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design. This is the first time the Queen has graced her presence at LFW.

The Queen sat next to Anna Wintour. Don’t they both look lovely? Feel inspired by the Queen’s pastel blue ensemble or Anna Wintour’s floral dress? Then why not hire one of our day dresses?

Here the Queen is awarding Richard Quinn with the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design.

For those who live in London, Girl Meets Dress offers same day delivery, for all orders placed before 1pm, so its not too late to hire dresses of your dreams!

For all our other UK and European customers, we offer next day delivery for all orders placed before 1pm.

Best British Designers to Hire.

Every girl loves a designer dress and here in GB we’re lucky to be home to some of the best British dress designers around, as well as the perfect designer dress hire service (sometimes we like to blow our own trumpet!).

With London Fashion Week SS14 coming up and some of the best designers heading to the capital to showcase their wares we here at GMD thought we’d share our top British Designers and their fabulous designer dresses available to hire on our site.

Christopher Kane

Christopher Kane dresses to hire

Christopher Kane started his fashion life at Giles Deacon and Russell Sage before bravely launching his own label as soon as he graduated. He is best know for bringing  Galaxy Print to the mainstream and his iconic printed dress is definitely one of the more unique designer dresses to hire we have here at Girl Meets Dress. He’s also partial to a spot of floral print and his Lemon Bloom Dress is another eye catching and beautiful floral designer dress. Check out the entire collection of Christopher Kane dresses to hire here and catch his collection’s performance as A/W13 London Fashion Week below!

Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen dresses to hireAlthough they lost their founder and namesake Lee McQueen in 2010 this British designer powerhouse recovered in spectacular style with the appointment of  Sarah Burton as Creative Director. Burton  then went on to design the most famous designer wedding dress of all time for The Duchess Of Cambridge’s 2011 wedding to Prince William. McQ by Alexander McQueen is just one of the many names behind the designer dresses for hire we have here at GMD. McQueen is a popular choice of celebrity dress and has been seen on the likes of Jennifer Aniston and Emeli Sande.

Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney dresses to hire

The daughter of an icon of British culture, Stella McCartney has managed to become one in her own right and her status as Brit fashion royalty was cemented last year when she teamed up with Adidas to design the GB Olympic Kit.  Her designer dresses range from floral dresses to cocktail dresses and our rage of Stella McCartney dresses to hire features some of her most popular pieces.

Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham dresses to hire

Far from being ‘just Posh Spice’ or ‘David Beckham’s wife’ Victoria Beckham has established  herself as a force to be reckoned with in the designer dress world and her amazing creations speak for themselves. Unfortunately for us Brits, LA-based Victoria has ruled out showing her collection at the SS14 shows in September. If you can’t wait until her label next visits the UK to get a bit of VB in you life then why not check out our collection of Victoria Beckham dresses to hire.

Do you have a favourite label whose designer dresses you just adore? Can you find them on our Designer A-Z? Are you visiting London Fashion Week? Whose shows are you most looking forward to seeing? Let us know on Facebook! Or Tweet us @GirlMeetsDress.

London Fashion Week SS13: Ladylike Elegance

For spring / summer 2013, make like the Duchess of Cambridge – after only three days in, London Fashion week has confirmed that ladylike elegance is a must for next season.

The go-to designer for posh, proper frocks is Emilia Wickstead, where simple silhouettes were brought to life by rich colours, eye-popping prints and plunging necklines. At Vivienne Westwood Red Label, the models strutted their stuff in pretty, figure-flattering dresses which were styled with eccentric accessories, and at Nicole Farhi things were fluid, simple and chic in a neutral palette and soft fabrics.

There’s a ladylike style for everyone next season; choose from 1950s domestic goddess, Hamptons socialite or retro glamour puss. If you can’t decide, then head straight to Girl Meets Dress, where you can indulge by being all three!
