Croc Optic Dress by Tibi

For a real taste of Summer in your wardrobe we recommend this stunning Croc Optic Dress by Tibi which is our Dress of the Week.  There’s nothing like a shot of yellow to brighten up an outfit.  Plus your staple Winter muted accessories will work fabulously with such a vivid hue.

The neck and hemlines are great for petite figures or those blessed with perfect pins!  Just be sure to exfoliate thoroughly and apply a great body oil to keep your legs looking smooth and silky.  Just as important is to have a gorgeous tan – whether natural or or fake – as yellow can be a tricky colour to pull off without a healthy glow.

Throw a slouchy black blazer over this racer back dress and slip on some stone or charcoal suede block heels for a relaxed look that will take you from day to evening, or dress it up with diamond drop earrings and metallic stilettos for a special event or Summer party.

The Tibi Croc Optic Dress is £119 for 2 nights or £129 for 7 nights.

Printed Silk Dress by Tibi

This dress is the sartorial equivalent of killing two birds with one stone.  In this little Tibi number you can tick off two trends: brights and grown-up digital flower prints.  That’s why it’s our Dress of the Week.

A whole host of designers were showcasing grown-up florals for Spring/Summer including Stella McCartney and Erdem, plus with Jil Sander doing for colour what Celine did for minimalism, you can be sure to be on trend with acid pop colours.  This dress certainly isn’t for wallflowers.  The trick to pulling it off is pairing such a vivid hue of blue with calming neutrals (handy considering camel and neutrals were so in for Autumn/Winter!)

Whether you choose biscuit, mocha or caramel, your shoes and bag will ground this look and make it totally wearable.  For instance, add this unassuming Wilbur and Gussie Harriet clutch to keep the focus on the dress.

Tibi printed silk dress is £89 for 2 nights or £99 for 7 nights.  The Wilbur and Gussie Harriet clutch bag in caramel is £39 with any dress for 2 or 7 nights.  Borrowed alone, it is £49 for 7 nights or £69 for a month.

Hello, Upper East Siders

After an inspiring trip to the Big Apple this month, and a somewhat desperate jealousy of the dresses donned by the cast of one of my favourite television programmes du jour, I thought it would be fitting to delve into the world of the Gossip Girl cast and indulge in some serious wardrobe envy.

Blair Waldorf is the quintissential Upper East Sider, with an impeccable turn out and clothes that are architecturally interesting, yet demure, and guaranteed to cost more than a Londoner’s monthly rent. Hers is the most exclusive of the bunch, with little high street mix and matching, but here are my hand-picked favourites that even Blair Waldorf would be excited to find in her wardrobe.

{L-R Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf, Wool Jackie Dress by LaDress, Circle Dress by Roland Mouret, Metallic Jacquard Dress by Proenza Schouler, Fantasy Frill Dress by Marc Jacobs}

GMD’s stunning collection of dresses has something to suit every one of Blair’s moods, in her favourite designer choices, so if you feel like taking tea at the Ritz and acting as Queen Bee for the day, don’t hesitate – why not try all four?

Serena van der Woodsen’s style choices are all about fun and seduction – and anything that serves as an excuse to get those mile-long legs out! Despite her best friend Blair’s efforts to remain conservative and put together, Serena is a party girl at heart, and these dresses would be perfect for the part.

{L-R Blake Lively as Serena van der Woodsen, Fushia Dress by Herve Leger, Rainbow Paillette Dress by Marc Jacobs, Agate Dress by Jasper Garvida, Metallic Detail Dress by Francis}

Why so sad, S? Is it because Girl Meets Dress customers can now access your favourite designers pieces and wear to their hearts content? We thought so.

And just in case you don’t fit into the Upper East Siders bracket, perhaps some inspiration from Brooklyn hipster Vanessa Abrams might be more up your street. Vanessa’s style is eclectic and full of colour – accesorise these pieces with some chunky bangles, a colourful tote bag, and maybe even a beanie hat, if the mood so takes you!

Why not make like the Gossip Girls and update your wardrobe for a night with these exciting pieces – get together with your girlfriends, pick a character and head out for some cocktails and a cheeky gossip.

xoxo.
