London Fashion Week AW12: Mulberry

The show we’ve all been waiting for: Mulberry. The British brand is a firm favourite among the fashion pack and the AW12 collection is sure to keep them entertained for yet another season. The dresses at Mulberry were tastefully sexy; seductive sheer panels, lingerie-esque lace detailing and conical shaped busts give a glimpse of what lies beneath. At Girl Meets Dress we do love a print, and next season, Mulberry’s dark florals in taffeta and lace are perfect for taking you from the office to cocktails: for the office, cover up with a neat cardigan, while for cocktails, just add a pair of killer heels. Mulberry’s new Lana bag won’t hurt either.

London Fashion Week AW12: Moschino Cheap & Chic

Moschino Cheap & Chic is synonymous with playful designs and quirky prints and the new collection for AW12 will not disappoint die-hard fans. Despite being an Italian label, the AW12 dresses are distinctly British; eclectic colours, kitsch prints and multi-coloured patchwork jumper dresses  result in what can only be described as eccentric, but one that fits perfectly in the contemporary idea of individuality. “Bird nest” hair makes for a 60s look, while studded loafers and bright lips brings us right back to 2012 – if there’s a collection of dresses to covet next season, Moschino Cheap & Chic is certainly fighting hard for a space in your wardrobe.

London Fashion Week AW12: House of Holland

House of Holland has always been the go-to label when in need of something a bit flirty, but it seems the HoH girl is growing up; cheeky slogan t-shirts and naughty mini-kilts have given way to a more wearable collection for autumn/winter ’12 with tunics, shifts and tea dresses being the order of the day.

For next season, there is a distinct 70s vibe, although the dresses are much more demure than before (think longer sleeves, higher necklines and even some mid lengths) and anything more than two inches above the knee is often worn with a flared trouser or ankle sock, while long gloves distract from bare arms. Perhaps this new-found modesty is something to do with the designer himself (and his gaggle of famous girlfriends) nearing the grand old age of 30 – the AW12 dresses appear more grown up, and are definitely made for a different type of party than those of seasons past.

If you love House of Holland for the fun, playful reputation it has built over the last few years, fear not. The designer has included one of his most racy dresses yet: a red leather halter – albeit of knee length proportions.
