London Fashion Week – Day 1: Jean-Pierre Braganza, Emilia Wickstead and Jena.Theo Dresses

Just a few hours in and London Fashion Week is already in full swing! Designers including Jean-Pierre Braganza, Emilia Wickstead and Jena.Theo were among some of the first designers to show their SS12 collections at LFW today and it appears that for Spring/Summer 12 you simply must have (or must rent!) either a Little Black Dress or a Little White Dress.

It seems that Braganza and Wickstead (above) are two designers who continue to produce investment dresses, creating sleek silhouettes in versatile colours, guaranteeing a timeless option that offer longevity and will see you through more than just one season, while Jena.Theo’s plunging neckline brings some seduction to the sensible button detailing.

Herve Leger by Max Azaria at New York Fashion Week

This week saw Herve Leger by Max Azaria’s Spring/Summer 2012 high-end runway show at the Lincoln Centre in New York City.  His signature bodycon bandage dresses ensured an A-list crowd including the likes of LeAnn Rimes, Ashlee Simpson and Jessica Szohr.  In neutral shades of white and black, Azaria chose metallic details in bronze, silver and gold to impress a futuristic tone on his designer dresses.  With cut-outs and tassled hems, the dresses clung to the models enhancing their feminine shapes.  Hair was tied back into slick ponytails so all eyes remained on the aw-inspiring dresses and gladiator style heels with straps that wound up the legs to sit just below the knees.

At Girl Meets Dress needless to say we are mesmerized by Azaria’s figure hugging frocks that enhance a woman’s body in just the right way, ensuring you feel more confident than ever in these perfect party dresses.  Currently we have six different styles of the Herve Leger dresses including the Bandage Black dress, the Fushia dress, the Green and Grey dress, the Bandage Halterneck dress, the Colour-Block Bandage dress and the V-Neck Bandage dress:

Team them with sky high-heels, chunky gold jewellery and a statement clutch to ensure that jaw-dropping reaction.

London Fashion Week – Day 1: Orla Kiely Dresses

Already we’ve seen some prominent spring/summer 2012  trends at New York Fashion Week, including pops of juicy, bright colours (citrus yellow is proving popular across the pond) and charming prints. London Fashion Week kicked off this morning, and already there are some great dresses on offer for next spring. Renowned for their retro inspired prints, Orla Kiely has delivered another versatile collection and there’s a printed dress for everyone. Midi for the sophisticated among us; mini for the flirts; versatile monochome for the investment buyers; and a nautical navy and white print with sailor collar that will be perfect for everyone next summer.

A firm favourite of mine has to be this black halter style that will work for almost any occasion – teamed with the citrus bag, it’s perfect for SS12.

How to Wear: Long Sleeved Dresses

As we move into those cold winter days and long winter nights the pressure is on to look good without feeling miserably cold by what will inevitably be increasingly bad English weather.  Winter events can always put some stress on what to wear when you want to look good without exposing yourself to the elements.  However, long sleeved dresses are the perfect way to steal a bit of warmth while still looking glam.  Whether you choose long sleeves or three-quarter sleeves, you’re sure to be suitably stylish in some of our long-sleeved dresses.

For a glitzy occasion we love America Retro’s Luna Dress.  This silver paillette covered dress will sparkle all night long.  Its padded shoulders provide an Oscar worthy structure that will ensure your look remains glamorous from start to finish.  Perfect for the colder months, the Luna dress has long sleeves so you won’t be required to take a coat.  Team with black tights for those extra cold evenings, show-stopping platforms and a simple clutch and all your missing is the cocktail.

For an ultra glamorous frock, we love Thakoon Addiction’s Jersey Dress.  In black jersey, the ruching down the front allows this dress to cling to your body in all the right places.  Its v-neck and tulip hem gives it just the right amount of sophistication allowing you that chic and elegant look with minimal exertion.  Its long sleeves ensure this dress is perfect for the holiday season.    Team it with black platforms and a clutch with a pop of colour for a wow-effect.

Finally we have Christopher Kane’s Yellow Orchid Dress.  Treat yourself to a piece of art with this bold number.  Its long sleeves and body-con fit, makes this frock the perfect choice for any cocktail event.  Team with black tights, ankle boots and a  white clutch for a fashion forward look.
