Every week, we receive many emails with interesting questions and concerns from our GMD customers. For this particular post, we decided to round up this week’s most popular questions with personalized answers from our CEO, Anna Bance, in order to make your renting experience a more enjoyable one, and so you don’t find yourself dressless for this summer’s most glamorous occasions.

1. Can I take my dress on vacation with me?

Yes you can! Our dresses have traveled to many different countries, more than I have to be honest, and although the price to rent the dress will increase slightly, you can rent the dress for a longer period of time and send it back to us once you get back home. Think of it this way, you can own the dress for longer and wear it multiple times! If you want to borrow a dress for longer than 7 nights, email us at enquiries@girlmeetsdress.com with the dates and names of dresses.

2. Do I have to clean my dress after I wear it?

No, we take care of the cleaning once you send the dress back to us, so don’t worry and enjoy your Cinderella night! We simply ask that you take care of the dress as if you borrowed it from a friend.

3. I need my dress for this weekend? Do you do speedy delivery?

Yes we do! If you need a dress for a last minute event this is no problem. As with every order – once the dresses leave us – they are on a Next Day UK delivery service. Fear no more about time and deadlines.  We even have a Same Day delivery service within London!

“My friend has organized a posh dinner in a local restaurant for her birthday and the dress-code is cocktail dresses.  I am 50 years old, a size 14 and absolutely hate my arms!  I have a very fair complexion but dark hair and eyes.  Please help! ”

So many women hate their arms so thankfully most designers take this into account.   The best part is however that long-sleeved dresses are never ‘out’ so here are some long-sleeved suggestions we think would work perfectly with your complexion…

Or, what about compromising with Temperley London‘s Shola Dress?  Another wrap dress, however this time with three-quarter sleeves.  With its statement brown giraffe print, dress it up with gold jewellery and some heels for an ultra glam and contemporary look.  No one will ever suspect you have any arm inhibitions!

Finally, we love our Miu Miu Silk Lily Dress.  With its fun yellow and pink print and flattering self-tie belt to cinch in your waist, this dress is perfectly pretty and easily dressed up or down.  Team with a cream or black elegant clutch and some delicate silver bangles and you’ll be the life of the party with this stunning yet simple dress.

“My birthday is coming up and I am having a party where both family and friends will be attending.  I’ll be turning 18 so will need a dress that will wow my friends but won’t shock my family.  I am on a budget so please only suggest dresses under £100.”

For such a special occasion such as your birthday we can understand your desire to have a show-stopping dress yet one that won’t make family members (particularly grandparents) want to cover you up in a coat as soon as you arrive!  A special dress that will stand out for all the right reasons is what you’ll need to create the desired look that will impress all of your attendees, whatever their age…

Our Marc Jacobs Rainbow Paillette dress is the ultimate in glam and was even worn by Fergie at the Teen Choice awards.  On its own, the black bustier may be a little too ‘little’ for the grandparents however, with its sheer black tulle overlay and beautiful detailing consisting of horizontal rainbow sequinned stripes it’s the perfect party dress.  Team with a colourful chunky necklace and sky-high heels as illustrated below.

“Please help!  I am in need of a dress for a formal event I have coming up at the Dorchester Hotel.  My colleagues are all quite fashion savvy so I need to be suitably stylish!  I have long hair and am open to wearing it either up or down.  I have an olive skin tone so please also recommend the best colours for my complexion.  Many thanks.”

Your event sounds really exciting, so hopefully we will be able to take some of the pressure off by finding the perfect dress.  With your olive skin tone most colours will pop beautifully on you.  Maxi dresses are all the rage this season so we love the fact you’ve decided to go with a long dress.  Jewel tones are also particularly popular at the moment and a dress which immediately springs to mind is our Butter by Nadia floor length dress in Amethyst.  The Greek goddess detailing on the back of the dress exudes style and would work best with your hair up.
