London Fashion Week SS13: The Future is Bright

So, London Fashion Week is over for another season. If you choose to dabble in just one spring/summer 2013, make it the colour vs print trend. Designers including Simone Rocha, Burberry Prorsum, Osman and Holly Fulton sent models down the runway in block brights and eccentric prints. For brights, choose an elegant, simple cut (as seen at Issa), whereas prints should be exaggerated by sci-fi, futuristic dress shapes.

Whether you choose colour or print, the future is bright. Well, SS13 is.

Clockwise from top: Brights, by Burberry Prorsum, Christopher Kane, Issa and Simone Rocha, all SS13.

Clockwise from top: Prints at Dion Lee, Mary Katrantzou, Osman and Holly Fulton, all SS13.

London Fashion Week SS13: Roksanda Ilincic

Simple shift dresses in geometric prints were the order of the day at Roksanda for spring/summer 13. Simple cut, simple silhouette, simple print – with pops of colour and curved lines spicing things up a little. These dresses are wardrobe staples: modern classics that will see you flit easily from a meeting with your boss to dinner with your beau or from lunch with your parents to cocktails with the girls. It’s a fashion no-brainer.

London Fashion Week SS13: Mulberry Maxis

The Mulberry show is always greatly anticipated, and greatly enjoyed – today at Mulberry, maxi dresses featured heavily for SS13 and at Girl Meets Dress, we fell in love with the navy blue maxis, worn nonchalantly beneath leather jackets. What’s the best thing about this spring/summer 13 trend? The fact that we can wear it now…. get your maxi from Girl Meets Dress and wear with your favourite old leather biker through September and October… then hire another maxi one come spring.
