At Girl Meets Dress we love to get more of an insight into our favourite topic.. fashion, So we have created a brand new GMD blog series called F.W.T. We will  interview leading fashion writers from your  favourite magazines and online blogs. F.W.T allows the fashion writers to take over the blog and give us an insight into their style and their favourite GMD dresses.

Our inagural F.W.T takeover is by Alexandra Light, Alexandra has many years experience within the  Fashion industry and is now the reigning Fashion editor at HELLO! Online.  GMD asked Alexandra to pick her current GMD crushes and answer a few of our style questions.. Enjoy

GMD’s Q&A with  Alexandra

How would you describe your style?

My style is androgynous at best, in reality just a bit scruffy! I do love glamming up in an amazing dress though – especially designer dresses, they’re that extra bit special and, most importantly, you’re unlikely to bump into someone wearing the same thing!

What is the One item you could not live without?

Jeans. Ripped, boyfriend, skinny – I love them all. I build most of my outfits around jeans, they’re my ultimate wardrobe staple.

Who is your style icon?

The Olsen twins are my ultimate style icons. Their expert layering is second to none and they are the queens of boho. I also love Victoria Beckham’s style – she’s always so well put-together.

This weeks Guest Stylist pick on the@Girlmeetsdress  blog is from Charlotte Kewley, Charlotte is a freelance Stylist & Fashion Editor with over a decades worth of experience in the fashion industry. She began her career at Sugar and then More magazines where she built up her knowledge and expertise in the field of fashion and styling. She has contributing to many magazines styling both fashion and celebrity shoots; OK!, Fabulous, Stylist, Zest and Two to name a few. All her years of experience and drive have enabled Charlotte to build her client base and become the reputable stylist she is today.

Charlotte answered a few questions for us:

– How would you describe your style?

Cool, casual and fairly classic – I mix it up a bit, sometimes I go more dark and rocky and sometimes I like a pretty, more feminine look.

– What are your fashion loves, and your hates?

I love my leather jacket! I left an old treasured one in the back of a black cab and it took almost a year to find the perfect replacement (in Whistles eventually). I love it when people experiment but I hate it when people try to hard or look overdressed/slutty. I’d always rather look under than overdressed personally.

– What’s the most loved item in your wardrobe?

My leather jacket. And I just got a new Sophie Hulme bowling bag that I adore.

– What advice would you have for anyone wanting to get into styling?

Get lots of work experience with stylists and on magazines and make as many contacts as possible!

– Where do you get your inspiration from?

Everywhere. Definitely the catwalk but more and more from streetstyle pics and blogs!

– Name one item no stylist should be without?

To wear or in your stylist kit!?

To wear – the perfect pair of day boots! We’re constantly running around on appointments, on shoots and around press days so a great pair of flats or boots is a must.

In your kit – safety pins and a lint roller, ha!

– What is your favourite SS14 trend?

I love all of the pastels and I love sport luxe – the Christopher Kane Petal and Flower sweatshirts combine the two perfectly. Want!

Continuing with our new blog series of Stylists having their say on the GMD blog, today we’re picking the mind of Kalee Hewlett. Kalee is a fashion and celebrity stylist and has worked in the industry for many years. Throughout this time she has worked on feature films; television; commercials; pop promos and now sits herself firmly within the fashion and presenting arena. Kalee’s talents have led her into styling for a range of international fashion titles and personal styling for a number of prominent TV personalities.

She answered a few of our questions:

How would you describe your style?

Eclectic and diverse. My style can very much depend on my mood and what I’m doing that day. I love prints and interesting pieces, I love to rummage through vintage shops to find original one off pieces. Generally my style is very much boho meets rock.

What’s your fashion loves and hates?

Fashion loves – anything with embellishment and sequins and I’m partial to a good hat!

Hates – is there really anything to hate about fashion? Each to their own. Fashion is fun!

 What advice would you have for anyone wanting to get into styling?

Make sure it’s what you really want to do because you will have to throw everything into it. You need to be driven, self disciplined, determined and most of all believe in yourself. If you have all of these ingredients and you’re really hungry for it, get as much experience as you possibly can in the industry, network at every given opportunity and stay true to yourself.

 Where do you get your inspiration from?

Everywhere and everything. Creation is all around us. Street style has become a huge influence now. I travel a lot which really feeds my inspiration.

Name one item no stylist should live without?

An A4 diary to assist with organising that busy schedule of yours!

 What is your favourite SS14 trend?

Lace – so happy to see the return of lace again this season. So intricate, beautiful delicate and feminine.
