Ball gowns are very popular at GMD in the Winter months leading up to Christmas and after the New Year. Strapless, long sleeves, backless, asymmetric, we have it all when it comes to the style of ball gown. Black is always a classic colour, but why not try something a little different and new this Winter?
Gorgeous Couture Jen Maxi – This nude ball gown frames the shoulders and the face with its capped sleeves and round neckline. An elegant gown that sparkles at the waist, a frosted look for any special occasion. Pair with a fluffy stole and some bling to compliment the detachable Swarovski crystal belt.
Badgley Mischka Odessa Peplum Gown: Pop your hip and strike a pose. This strapless ball gown cinches in, and accentuates the waist. The fabric is stretchy so you can still shimmy onto the dance floor and bust some moves. The sweetheart neckline adds a unique twist to this black ball gown.
Badgley Mischka Bow Waist Gown: Bows are a timeless trend and this one sparkles adding a modern take to this blue grey draped ball gown. Perfect for prom or your next Winter Ball, it’s a nice change to a black ball gown without being too different.

I checked out the girl’s party dresses from GMD and liked what I saw; I’m already dreaming of my next night out. I’m ready to throw a favourite leather jacket or a structured cape over any of these dazzling party dresses and dance the night away…
First, I looked to black party dresses available; whether it’s a little black dress you’re looking for or a long black dress, there is a party dress to suit any figure. If peplum is your thing, add length AND a fishtail cut with the beautifully balancing Pia dress by Jarlo. The  Havanna women’s party dress by MSGM will accentuate your waist and you can get tucking into those canapés while your legs steal all the attention; but if you’d like to try something a little more casually louche, style yourself downtown-chic in Alexander Wang’s Ruffled Skirt Dress.
I would challenge the girl (yes, I mean you) looking to hire designer party dresses to resist the bold magenta red and sexy plunge of Herve Leger’s V-Neck Bandage dress. Of all red party dresses, this is the queen of party dresses for women; retailing at £1,330, it is available to hire for £129 – so it would be surprising if your best friend was wearing the same thing!
I’m a pink lady at heart and whilst browsing through for my next try on session I found some cheaper party dresses for glamorous girly girls. Now that punky tartans and the sombre colours of winter have taken to the high street, nothing screams femininity and brightens up the evening like rosy pastel hues and shocking pink. This flowing pink party dress complete with sparkles from Lili London is long enough to swish and won’t break the bank – it’s available to hire for £29 and the perfect compliment to any skin tone. This is a great compromise between short party dresses and the silhouette that this train of material can create for you.
Last of all, but by all means not least, I love the killer fuchsia of Marchesa Notte’s strapless pink party dress. This stunning design would do nicely for my next girl’s night out and serve me well for a more formally dress coded drinks reception too! I am already imagining teaming with patent heels and visualising clutch bags… Perhaps a certain set of pink amethyst earrings I glanced at on the GMD website. Who would believe you could get hold of a 100% silk ladies party dress imbued with Hollywood glamour for £59?

Santa Baby, come over here and let’s sneak a kiss under the mistletoe! Even though it’s mid-November, there’s no denying it, Christmas is upon us. The Christmas adverts are on the television and fires are being lit all over the UK – as Noddy Holder famously belts out in Slade’s classic Christmas song, “iittt’s Christmasâ€! Here’s a selection of party dresses we’ll be wearing over the coming weeks:
Jarlo: Pia Dress – Wiggle on over to the mistletoe, or be swept off your feet and carried there! The peplum of this black dress is very on trend and the delicate lace and adds luxury to this party dress.
Oh My Love: Hook An Eye Dress – If you’re having trouble getting that special someone under the mistletoe, hook them with this dress and they’ll have to follow you! With the unique trimming detail of the dress, keep accessories simple and silver.
Dark Pink: Joy Halter Maxi – The high neckline and beautiful tie at the back might seem conservative at first, but this black maxi dress has a secret. When you’re under the mistletoe, there’s a cheeky slit to accommodate that perfect leg popping fairy tale kiss.

With the festive season approaching it means that it is time to start looking for the perfect winter ball gown! We have brought together some of the best ball gowns to help you decide on the perfect dress for you.
If your attending a black tie theme, or prefer the classic black dress, then the Scarlet  gown might be the one for you. With the luxurious sheen of the fabric and the cross back detailing, this gown is not to be underestimated. The layered fishtail gives the gown a fun edge, and allows the perfect ease of movement to dance the night away.
Add some colour to your evening. Wear this Badgley Mishka Ombre burst gown with confidence, knowing that you look dressed for the occasion. This one shouldered beauty has lovely red crystal detailing on the shoulder. Show it off by wearing your hair to one side or treating yourself to an up-do perhaps? The side split in the skirt reveals decadent layers of fabric which feature hues from pink to red. Honestly, if you’re looking to stand out from the crowd we recommend you try this one on.
Snow ball? Snow problem. The Blake dress from Diva Sophia is a show stopper. This floor length dress has a gorgeous semi sheer skirt and a hand beaded embellished bodice. Â Accessorize the dress with some statement heels and a designer clutch.
